The Regional Housing Coordinators Provide the Following Services:

Coordination

• To serve as a single point of contact for technical assistance and information related to housing and services for waiver-eligible consumers in the region

Education

• To provide information, referral and technical assistance to DPW and PDA program administrators and service providers to assist them in identifying housing resources in their region

• To provide regional information related to housing, services, and other resources for people with disabilities

Outreach

• To develop collaborative relationships with groups and agencies in their region who have contact with people with disabilities

Technical Assistance and Training

• To conduct presentations to groups and organizations about the housing needs of, and resources available to, people with disabilities.

• To conduct training on a variety of topics related to housing for people with disabilities such as:

  • Accessible Affordable Housing

  • Home Modifications

  • Local Housing Option Teams (LHOTs are a collaborative effort of community agencies working together to address the housing needs of people with disabilities)

  • PA Apartment Locator (PAL), a new addition to the PHFA website that list affordable apartments throughout the state

  • Home and Community Based Services (HCBS), waiver systems

  • Developing and strengthening local housing coalitions

  • Effective marketing strategies targeting persons with disabilities

  • Subsidized/affordable housing systems
